IMPRESSION OF THE SITE
THE DAY WE WENT AS A GROUP TO GO VISIT THE SITE, IT WAS A VERY CLOUDY
AND RAINY DAY. STARTING WITH THE TOP LEFT IMAGE WHICH REPRESENTS THE WEATHER CONDITIONS WE EXPERIENCED. CONTINUING WITH THE BOTTOM THREE PICTURES OF THE FEET, ICE CUBES, AND WET FOOT PRINTS ; THEY REPRESENT THE WALKING WE HAD TO DO TO GET FAMILIAR WITH THE SITE, HOW COLD IT WAS AND HOW WET WE WERE DO TO THE RAIN. THE NEXT IMAGE I CHOOSE WAS THE MOUNTAIN AT THE TOP, WHICH SHOWS THE MATERIAL THAT MOST OF THE BUILDINGS AROUND THE AREA ARE BUILD WITH (BROWNSTONE). THE TOP RIGHT IMAGE IS AN IMAGE OF A RAILROAD TRACK AND PAVEMENT, DESCRIBING HOW SOME OF THE STREETS LOOK LIKE. THE LAST IMAGE IS A REPRESENTATION OF HOW QUITE, CALM, AND SOLITARY THE AREA LOOKED.
CONNECTION
THE WORD "CONNECTION" IS BEEN REPRESENT IN THIS COLLAGE WITH DIFFERENT VARIETY OF IMAGES. THE FIRST TOP LEFT IMAGE SHOWS HOW THERE IS A CONNECTION BETWEEN THE SILK AND THE LINES CONNECTING ONE ANOTHER TO CREATE A SPIDER WEB. THAN THE TOP RIGHT IMAGE IS AN EXAMPLE OF HOW THE WAVELENGTH COLORS WE SEE AT SUNRISE MAKE A CONNECTION AT THE HORIZON TO BRING DAY LIGHT. CONTINUING WITH THE THIRD IMAGE, IT GIVES A SENSE OF CONNECTION IN HOW THE TREES ARE LINE UP MAKING THE BRANCHES CREATE AN ARC BY COMING TOGETHER AT THE TOP. WHEN I SAW THE IMAGE SHOWING THE LADY ON THE BOTTOM LEFT CORNER, IT GAVE ME AN IDEA OF "SEQUENCE", AND HOW THIS WORD IS RELATED TO CONNECTION. BY HAVING THE LADY START AT ONE POINT AND IN SLOW MOTION SHOWING THE CONNECTION THERE IS TO GET FROM ONE POINT TO ANOTHER.
PROGRAM
THIS COLLAGE SHOWS SOME OF THE PROGRAMMATIC ACTIVITIES THAT ARE GOING TO BE INCORPORATED TO THE SPORTS FACILITY I WILL BE DEVELOPING. EACH IMAGE REPRESENTS ITS OWN ACTIVITY. HOWEVER, MY MAIN IDEA WAS TO TRY AND SHOW THE APPEARANCE OF MOVEMENT WITH EACH IMAGE. BY REPRESENTING MOVEMENTS IT SHOWS THAT EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE DIFFERENT TYPES OF ACTIVITIES GIVING AT THE SPORTS FACILITY, THEY ALL HAVE SOMETHING IN COMMON. FOR INSTANCE, MOVEMENT IS SOMETHING THAT EVERYONE IS GOING TO HAVE TO MAKE, WHETHER IT IS: EXERCISING, RUNNING, SWIMMING, PLAYING FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL, ETC...
I would add another two words in the description of the collage philosophy: rythm and pace. Each sequence is characterized by different rythm of movement and each sport activity by different pace. The way you organize the sports areas could be based on the essence of slow-medium -fast pace of programmatic activities which could aswell form the basis of the design concept.
